AFRICA | A brilliant African man named Frederick Agaaya Adongo from Ghana has achieved an exceptional academic milestone, earning a First-Class degree in Law from the University of Ghana.
His outstanding performance secured him admission to both Yale and Harvard University for a Master of Laws (LL.M.) program.
In 2015, Frederick embarked on his journey in legal education at the University of Ghana, where he pursued a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.). He graduated in 2021 with First-Class honors.
That same year, he proceeded to the Ghana Law School to further his legal training. He completed Law school and was called to bar as barrister and solicitor of the supreme court of Ghana.

His remarkable academic achievements earned him acceptance from two prestigious law schools in the world—Yale and Harvard University.
Reflecting on this accomplishment, Frederick admitted that studying at such elite institutions once seemed like a distant dream. The idea of having both schools competing for his enrollment was beyond his imagination.
However, he was faced with a tough decision. Due to the competitive nature of both schools, he had to choose between the two offers, making it impossible to defer one.
After much consideration, Frederick chose Yale Law School, citing the appeal of its small, highly selective class size—admitting only about 25 students worldwide annually.
Additionally, he expressed immense pride in being the first Ghanaian and one of the few Africans in decades to be admitted to Yale’s LL.M. program, making this milestone even more remarkable.
”It is bittersweet, though, that I could not—at least at this moment—utilize the opportunity of studying at both of my all-time favorite law schools. What an iconic time to be at Yale Law School as it celebrates 200 years of unparalleled legal education,” he said.
Frederick attributes this success to divine intervention and the unwavering support of those around him.
He also expressed deep appreciation for his mentors, recommenders, benefactors, spiritual guides, friends, and family, particularly Nana Dr. S.K.B. Asante, whose wisdom and guidance proved invaluable despite his advanced age.
As he steps into this new chapter, Frederick eagerly anticipates learning from some of the world’s finest legal scholars at Yale University.
“I look forward to an exciting year under the tutelage of some of the world’s finest legal scholars that Yale boasts of. Here’s to new beginnings and endless possibilities,” he said.
