A brilliant man named Eric Mibuari earned a PhD in Computer Science from Harvard University, Massachusetts, in the United States of America.
Eric celebrated this achievement on LinkedIn, where he shared insights into the focus of his dissertation titled “Towards Positive Outcomes in the AI Economy: Mitigating Algorithmic Collusion and Enabling Fair Recourse.”
He explained that his research addresses both the promises and risks associated with the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI). As AI increasingly solves critical global challenges, concerns about its potential harms have grown as well.

Eric’s dissertation explores how society can harness the benefits of AI while mitigating its current and future risks.
Specifically, he examines ways to enable and promote positive outcomes in the AI-driven economy, where markets rely on AI algorithms to facilitate agent behavior, pricing, matching, and clearing.
His goal was to identify conditions under which AI can enhance societal welfare without disproportionately disadvantaging particular groups
He dedicated his dissertation to his late grandparents, honoring their legacy as freedom fighters who secured many of the freedoms society enjoys today.
Eric also expressed his gratitude to his parents, siblings, advisor, doctoral committee, collaborators, lab mates in Harvard’s Economics Department, and countless friends and supporters who helped make his achievement possible.
Looking to the future, Eric hopes to apply his expertise to create a healthier, more prosperous, and more equitable world, with a clearer vision for these aspirations unfolding in the months and years ahead.
Eric’s academic journey began at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering with a focus on information technology. He later obtained a master’s degree in Computer Science from Stanford University.
