AFRICA | 21-year-old man emerges Baze University’s best graduating student with 3.96/4.00CGPA in Economics, earns ₦33million cash prize
21-year-old Nigerian man, Farid Aminu Hammayo, has emerged as the best graduating student of Baze University, Abuja, after earning a bachelor’s degree in Economics with an impressive 3.96 out of 4.00 cumulative grade point average (CGPA).
Farid’s outstanding academic performance earned him a cash prize worth $20,000 (₦33 million) in Nigerian currency.
The founder of Baze University, Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, presented the cash award in recognition of Farid’s exceptional dedication and hard work throughout his studies.

The gesture was a testament to the university’s commitment to rewarding academic excellence. In his valedictory speech, Farid expressed heartfelt gratitude to the university community, his professors, and his family for their unwavering support.
He emphasized the importance of leadership and innovation, urging his fellow graduates to rise to the challenges of shaping the future of Nigeria.
“Today, we celebrate our academic achievements, but we must also recognize the responsibilities that come with them. We are the future leaders, policymakers, and innovators of Nigeria,” he said.
Farid also encouraged his peers to embrace resilience and determination as they embark on their careers, inspiring them to contribute positively to society. He was the overall best student out of 749 graduates in the Class of 2024.
In another story, an exceptional Nigerian lady named Yusuf Aminat Imoitesemeh has bagged a Law degree with an outstanding 5.00/5.00 cumulative grade point from the Lagos State University (LASU), Nigeria.
She was awarded a sum of 10 million naira and automatic employment after emerging as the overall best student of the institution.
Aminat Yusuf broke the 40-year-old record of Lagos State University Nigeria after scoring a perfect 5.00 cumulative grade point average. She was first admitted into the Diploma in Law program which runs for two years and she aced the program with a 4.98 cumulative Grade Point.
Then she furthered on by entering into the bachelor’s degree program in the Faculty of Law at the University. She remained outstanding all through the five-year course in school scoring A in all the tests and examinations she participated in. Read more about Aminat HERE.
