AFRICA | A brilliant Nigerian lady named Lotechukwu Ikpo, has made history at Bowen University, becoming the first student ever to graduate with a perfect 5.00 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) since the institution’s inception.
Her remarkable academic feat has not only set a new record for the university but also earned her national recognition and a ₦1 million scholarship award for postgraduate studies.
Lotechukwu graduated with a First-Class degree in Economics, standing out as the Overall Best Graduating Student of the 2025 class.
Lotechukwu's Story and How She Did It
Her journey to this historic achievement began in 2022, when she enrolled in the university’s Advanced Level Program. From the onset, she demonstrated an uncommon commitment to excellence — maintaining straight A’s throughout her studies.
However, her path was not without challenges. During her second year, she faced a painful personal loss with the passing of her father.
Instead of letting grief hold her back, Lotechukwu turned her pain into motivation. She pushed herself even harder, channeling her emotions into her academics and emerging stronger than ever.
