A brilliant Nigerian lady named Marvelous Dare, has achieved outstanding academic success after emerging as the best graduating student in Civil Engineering at the University of Ibadan.
She graduated with an impressive 3.78/4.00 CGPA, earning First Class Honours and topping not just her department, but also earning recognition across her faculty. Her journey is a strong example of excellence, discipline, and consistency.
Marvelous' Story and How She Did It
Marvelous began her academic journey at the University of Ibadan in 2019. Over the course of six years, she remained focused despite the rigorous demands of studying Civil Engineering.
By the end of her program, her hard work paid off and she recieved notable awards for her performance. Reflecting on her journey, she shared on LinkedIn how getting admitted into UI to study Civil Engineering was a dream come true and the beginning of something great.
Throughout her time in school, she was surrounded by brilliant peers, supportive mentors, and an environment that constantly pushed her to grow. Graduating with a First Class was just one part of her achievement.
She also earned multiple top honors, including Best Graduating Student, Department of Civil Engineering, Best Graduating Female Student, Department of Civil Engineering, and Best Graduating Female Student, Faculty of Technology.
Her excellence also earned her several prestigious scholarships and recognitions such as the Julius Berger Scholarship, Gamaliel Onosode Scholarship Scheme for Excellence, and consistent placement on the Dean’s Honour List from 2021 to 2025.
But Marvelous did not focus on academics alone. She took on key leadership roles that helped shape her growth and impact, including serving as Academic Coordinator and Program Lead in different student organizations.
Through these roles, she contributed to building academic communities and supporting fellow students. She was also inducted into the Nigerian Society of Engineers, a major milestone that officially marks her entry into the engineering profession.
According to her, this journey is proof that consistency, discipline, and faith can take you far. Marvelous expressed deep gratitude to her family, mentors, and everyone who supported her along the way, describing her achievement not as the end, but the beginning of a greater journey.
