A brilliant Nigerian man named Obinna Nwannegbo has emerged as the overall best graduating student of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Benin after earning an outstanding 4.80 cumulative grade point average (CGPA).
Obinna achieved the remarkable feat after completing his Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, graduating top of his class in the 2025 set.
Obinna's Story and How He Did It
Obinna began his academic journey at the University of Benin in 2019. Over the next six years, he consistently maintained excellent academic performance while completing rigorous coursework, clinical training, and professional requirements required in pharmacy school.
As part of his professional milestone, he was also inducted into the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, marking his official entry into the pharmacy profession.
In addition to emerging as the overall best graduating student in the Faculty of Pharmacy, Obinna also received another major honour as the Best Graduating Student in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice.

Sharing his achievement on LinkedIn, Obinna described the moment as a significant milestone in his academic journey.
“This marks a major milestone in my academic journey and the beginning of a new chapter in my life as a pharmacist,” she said.
Among the highlights of the ceremony was the moment Obinna’s father was invited to the stage to celebrate the achievement with him.
“For me, the highlight of the entire moment was seeing how proud my dad was when he was called up to join me on stage. Watching him walk up there and share that moment with me was deeply special,” Obinna said.
Obinna also had the honour of delivering the valedictory speech for his graduating class, reflecting on the journey and the challenges they overcame.
“I remember how uncertain many things were, yet somehow I found myself standing behind the podium as the valedictorian of my set,” he said.
Obinna acknowledged the support of his lecturers, family, friends, and course mates, noting that their contributions played an important role in his success.
He also celebrated the achievements of his classmates, whom he described as the “Golden Set of 2025.”
“I have no doubt that in the years to come, we will all become trailblazing pharmacists making meaningful contributions to healthcare and society,” he said.
While proud of his accomplishments, Obinna believes the achievement is only the beginning of his journey. “I am proud of how far I have come, and I know this is only the beginning. It is to higher grounds from here on.”
