A brilliant Nigerian Engineer, Ifeanyi Udodilim Okpala has earned his Doctorate Degree (PhD) in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, United States.
Ifeanyi Okpala who specializes in Construction Engineering and Management announced his achievement on his Linkedin profile. He started his higher academic journey at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), South-West, Nigeria where he graduated with a First-class Bachelor’s Degreee in Civil Engineering.
He proceeded to the University of Alabama, United States for his Master’s Degree and graduated with a 100% record, attaining all the 4.00 grade points possible. He thereafter commenced his PhD program with specification in Construction Engineering and Management.
Just like in his Master’s Degree program, Ifeanyi aced his PhD grade scoring all the available 4.00 grade points to emerge the institution’s Outstanding Graduate Student award for the year 2022.

“I am grateful for receiving 10 academic honors and awards at UA – most recently at The UA Premier Awards Ceremony as “Outstanding Graduate Student at The University of Alabama 2022”. For this, I thank the University President, Dr. Stuart Bell, University of Alabama Graduate School, and UA GSA,” Ifeanyi wrote on Linkedin.
He also announced that aside being the university’s outstanding student of the year, he also received many other awards including 2022 Awards of Outstanding Graduate Student for Civil Engineering and the UA College of Engineering. For this recognition, I wish to appreciate my CCEE department, College of Engineering, Capstone Engineering Society and Engineering Council of Birmingham (ECOB).
Ifeanyi expressed thanked everyone that supported him throughout his academic journey. “I am grateful to all my Professors in the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering, and Culverhouse College of Business at The University of Alabama for experiential tutelage and mentorship that laid the groundwork for a 4.0 Final coursework GPA, teaching and 13 co-authored peer-reviewed publications,” he said.
