AFRICA | A brilliant Nigerian lady named Praise Olawanle has earned a Master of Laws (LLM) in Legal Practice from BPP Law School in England.
Praise began her higher education journey at the London School of Economics and Political Science, where she earned her Bachelor of Laws before proceeding to BPP Law School for her postgraduate studies.
Alongside her master’s program, she also enrolled for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), the new centralized assessment for aspiring solicitors in England and Wales.
Sharing her achievement on Twitter, Praise’s father, Dele Olawanle, a United Kingdom-based lawyer, expressed how proud he was to witness his younger daughter graduate, calling it a moment of fulfillment and reflection.

In an emotional reflection, Dele recalled his own struggles when he first arrived in the UK. Coming from a poor background, affording education was one of his greatest challenges.
He shared how it took him fifteen years to transition from primary school to earning a degree due to financial hardship. Even after managing to complete his first degree, he faced further obstacles.
Twenty three years ago, Dele enrolled in a part-time Master’s program at Middlesex University in London while working at a law firm. After long days at work, he would attend evening classes and return home at 10 p.m., still needing to prepare for school the next day.
He completed the first year, but during the final semester of his second year, he was deregistered for being unable to pay the remaining £750 in tuition fees.
Though the amount was small, he did not have it. Dele left the program in tears and made a vow to return and rewrite the story through his children.
He recalled how challenging things were for him then, studying with three young children and a supportive wife who did all she could to keep the family going.
In the face of those challenges, Dele made it his mission to give his children the education he could not complete at different private universities in the United Kingdom.
Today, he has kept that promise. All three of his children have now earned Master’s degrees in Law and are actively practicing. As he watched Praise cross the stage in her graduation gown, Dele could not hold back his emotions.
“I could not do it, but they did,” he said proudly.
