A brilliant Nigerian Lady named Oluwatoni Oluwabunmi has achieved a rare academic milestone, earning first-class honors twice in Law and emerging as the Best Graduating Student at the Nigerian Law School, Kano Campus, where she outperformed more than 800 students.
Her journey to become a barrister is one of resilience, excellence, and faith.
Oluwatoni's Story and How She Did It
Oluwatoni’s academic journey began in 2018 at Adeleke University, Nigeria, where she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB), an achievement she shared on LinkedIn.
Through dedication and hard work, she graduated in 2023 with first-class honors, achieving the highest cumulative grade point average (CGPA) ever recorded in the Faculty of Law since its establishment.
Her exceptional performance also earned her the Best Graduating Student of the faculty, along with several prestigious prizes from the university, faculty, and external sponsors.

Reflecting on her undergraduate journey, Oluwatoni described it as an incredible and fulfilling experience that shaped her perspective and prepared her for the next chapter of her legal career.
After her remarkable success at Adeleke University, Oluwatoni took the next mandatory step for aspiring lawyers in Nigeria, enrolling at the Nigerian Law School.
The Law School is a rigorous one-year program that determines who qualifies to be called to the Bar in Nigeria.
But her time at the Law School came with unexpected challenges. Due to unforeseen circumstances, she resumed seven weeks late, missing over 35 lecture topics.
This setback left her feeling overwhelmed and out of place. “I was confused, exhausted, and unsure of where to start,” she recalled. Yet, despite the challenges, Oluwatoni chose not to give up.
For the next five months, she committed herself to intense self-learning, late nights of study, self-control, and constant prayer. “Through every step, the Holy Spirit remained my teacher and guide,” she said.
Her perseverance paid off. In 2025, she graduated from the Nigerian Law School with another first-class, emerging as the Best Graduating Student of the Kano Campus and ranking 18th overall nationwide out of over 5,600 candidates.
Oluwatoni was officially called to the bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, a moment she described as a testament to grace, hard work, and divine guidance.
“My story is proof that you can achieve anything you set your mind to, no matter the odds stacked against you. As my mentor always reminds me: Oluwatoni, you are never disadvantaged,” she said.
Oluwatoni expressed deep gratitude to her family, mentors, and friends who supported her journey“This milestone is not mine alone, it belongs to everyone who walked this path with me,” she said.
