A determined Nigerian lady named Oluwadamilola Anisere has achieved an extraordinary feat by building her academic performance from a 2.84 GPA in her first year to graduating with a first-class degree in Chemistry with a final GPA of 4.57 from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
Sharing her story on LinkedIn, Oluwadamilola described her academic journey as a testament to grace and resilience. She candidly revealed how her path initially seemed derailed by unforeseen challenges.
In her first year at the University of Lagos, Oluwadamilola struggled academically, earning a GPA of 2.84. She recounted feeling angry and frustrated, especially because she had aspired to study Engineering.

“I had scored over 300 in my JAMB exams and was always at the top of my class in secondary school,” she shared.
However, an unexpected issue with her West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results and her inability to use her National Examination Council (NECO) results shattered her dreams of studying Engineering.
As she started her university journey, she admitted to having a lackadaisical attitude toward her studies, which further compounded her challenges.
“When I saw my first-year results, I was dumbfounded. I had even received an F. It dawned on me that I was joking with my life,” she said. Despite this wake-up call, her struggles continued into her second year.
The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 brought about unexpected changes for Oluwadamilola. Amid the global uncertainty, she experienced a spiritual awakening that transformed her life.
“The COVID year had its share of bad things, but I’m super grateful for the turnaround I had with my walk with God. I rededicated my life to God that year,” she said.
After returning to school post-COVID, Oluwadamilola prayed for help to redeem her academic performance. With renewed determination and the support of her fellowship community, she started to see significant improvements in her grades.
“My grades took a complete turnaround, and I started earning first-class results. I experienced ease, help, and transformation in my academics,” she recalled. Her faith became a guiding light, especially during moments of doubt.
Oluwadamilola’s growth extended beyond the classroom. She earned a Green Digital Skills Certificate from INCO Academy and completed an intensive Product Management Bootcamp.
These experiences helped her discover her resilience and passion for sustainability. Reflecting on her journey, she expressed gratitude for the lessons learned and the strength she developed along the way.
As she embarks on the next chapter of her journey, Oluwadamilola plans to integrate her Chemistry background with her Product Management skills and passion for sustainability. She aims to create meaningful solutions that address pressing global challenges.
