Her journey began in 2018 when, as a 15-year-old fresh out of secondary school and the top graduating student in her class, she dreamed of becoming a law student.

However, when Obafemi Awolowo University lost its law accreditation, she was offered admission to study English. Heartbroken but resolute, she chose not to settle and spent the year learning tailoring instead.

In 2019, her determination faced more hurdles. She narrowly missed the required post-UTME score for another university and declined an offer to study Philosophy at Ekiti State University.

Undeterred, she enrolled in a JUPEB program to improve her chances but felt disengaged and dropped out by the end of the year.

In January 2020, a family friend introduced her to Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU). By grace, she was admitted as the last student in the 2019 class—two weeks before exams. Unfortunately, her late start meant she could not sit for exams that semester.

Despite these challenges, Omowonuola persisted. When the COVID-19 pandemic forced everything online, she adapted to virtual learning and exams, making the most of her opportunity.

Her perseverance paid off and she graduated with a first-class degree and was the second-best graduating student and best graduating female student of the university’s college of law.

Additionally, Omowonuola won the University’s Scholars Award, Vice Chancellor’s Prize for First Class, Makinwa Gabriel & Felicia Foundation Prize for Best Graduating Female Student in Law and was the 5th Overall Best Graduate Among 600 Students.

Omowonulola also served in four leadership roles including being a Chief Judge, Head of the Institute ADR Society, Judge, and PRO, and did 7 Internships at Top Law Firms including  AELEX, Detail Commercial Solicitors, ALN Nigeria | Aluko & Oyebode, Olaniwun Ajayi, and Banwo & Ighodalo.

Her achievements were not without struggles. Omowonuola faced chronic headaches and seizures, which intensified during exam periods. Through it all, her mother’s unwavering support and the prayers of a dear friend became her lifeline.

As she celebrates this milestone, Omowonuola reflects on the lessons learned: resilience, faith, and grit can transform even the darkest moments into stepping stones toward greatness.

“To anyone reading this,” she says, “never give up on your dreams. The path may be long, and the obstacles overwhelming, but every challenge shapes you for the victory ahead.
