AFRICA | A young Nigerian lady who begged for money to sponsor education finally graduates university, appreciates supporters
A young Nigerian lady, Oluwakemisola Emmanuel, has achieved an inspiring milestone by graduating from the University of Lagos with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, overcoming significant financial challenges along the way.
Oluwakemisola’s educational journey was far from easy. During her final year, she faced severe financial difficulties that threatened to derail her academic aspirations. In a courageous move, she took to the streets holding a placard that read,
“I don’t want to drop out. Please help me pay my final year school fees.”

Her heartfelt plea resonated with many, and through the generosity of kind-hearted individuals, she was able to raise the funds needed to continue her studies and complete her degree.
Sharing her story on Instagram, Oluwakemisola posted pictures from her time as a 100-level and 200-level student, as well as her final year, reflecting on her incredible journey. She also shared photos of herself in her graduation outfit, expressing deep gratitude to everyone who supported her.
“Officially a B.Sc. Mass Communication graduate from the University of Lagos! What started in December 2017 has finally come to a beautiful end today. I’m deeply grateful to God for guiding me through this journey and to everyone who supported me financially along the way,” she wrote.
In another story, a young Nigerian man named Sunday Augustine, has defied the odds to graduate with a first-class degree in Microbiology from the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) despite facing financial challenges.
His remarkable achievement earned him the title of best-graduating student in his department Sunday faced significant challenges growing up, particularly after losing his father at the tender age of 14.
His family’s financial struggles threatened to derail his education, but his determination and unwavering focus kept him moving forward.
