A brilliant Nigerian lady named Doyinsola Sonoiki, has achieved a remarkable milestone by earning two master’s degrees from two prestigious European universities through the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Scholarship program.
The Erasmus Mundus Scholarship provides opportunities for students to pursue joint or multiple degrees across a consortium of higher education institutions.

Doyinsola shared her inspiring journey on LinkedIn, crediting “determination, dedication, and perseverance” for her success. She began her two-year academic journey during the COVID-19 pandemic, a period she described as both challenging and rewarding.
In September 2022, Doyinsola graduated with an International Joint Master’s Degree in Soils and Global Change (IMSOGLO), specializing in Physical Land Resources, from the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering at Ghent University.
Her program was organized under the Erasmus Mundus Masters Scholarship and involved studying across several institutions, including Aarhus University (Denmark), the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU, Austria), and the University of Göttingen (Germany).
Reflecting on the experience, Doyinsola described it as a transformative phase filled with “top-notch teaching, exciting experiences, international exposure, and resourceful connections” that positively shaped her both mentally and morally.
She expressed heartfelt gratitude to her family and friends for their unwavering support and belief in her abilities, saying, “This achievement is dedicated to everyone who has continually seen the best in me.”
Doyinsola also praised the IMSOGLO consortium and the participating universities for their well-organized curriculum. She extended special thanks to her MSc thesis supervisor, whose guidance and support made the final phase of her academic journey fulfilling.
In her words, “I am grateful for the love and encouragement of my colleagues, who made this journey interesting, and for my ability to stay strong through the challenges.”
Doyinsola’s academic journey began at the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) in Nigeria, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Technology, specializing in Crop, Soil, and Pest Management.
