A determined Nigerian man named Toluse Ashaolu who suffered several rejections in an attempt to further her education in the United Kingdom finally won two prestigious scholarships to study for her master’s degree in the United Kingdom and Europe.

Toluse was awarded the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters scholarship and the United Kingdom’s Commonwealth Scholarships. Narrating her story on Linkedin, Toluse mentioned that after her undergraduate studies, she relentlessly applied for scholarships for two years.

Despite earning her bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Administration with first-class honors at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Nigeria, she suffered several rejections before she finally won the two prestigious scholarships.

Out of the two prestigious scholarships, Toluse chose the Erasmus scholarship which allowed her to earn two master’s degrees from different universities across the world.

Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Scholarships are prestigious international opportunities, designed and funded by the European Union, and delivered by a group of higher education institutions.

They cover the costs of candidates’ tuition, accommodation, and travel costs to and from his/her country. Additionally, a stipend of €1500 is provided for every selected applicant as a provision for the coverage of living allowance. For more information on how to apply, check HERE.

Toluse earned two master’s degrees in Circular Economy at two European universities. One at the Chalmers University of Technology and the other at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Norway.

She mentioned that the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship offer set her on a path filled with growth, challenges, and incredible opportunities and she is glad to have chosen it.

She stated that transitioning from the Nigerian educational system to the European system was not an easy feat as she experienced some cultural shocks as a foreign student. Toluse added that adapting to new academic standards, and navigating life in two of Europe’s prestigious institutions was tasking but she pulled through.

In Europe, Toluse attended numerous workshops and summer schools where she added valuable certifications to her master’s degree. She said she also gained hands-on experience through an enriching internship.

Toluse expressed her gratitude to her God, the European Union, her family, friends, and colleagues for their support and for the success of the degree.
