AFRICA | A brilliant Nigerian man bags Industrial Mathematics degree with honors, graduates from FUTA as top 1% in his class
A brilliant Nigerian man named Samuel Adeyemo has graduated with honors in Industrial Mathematics from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA). His exceptional academic performance placed him among the top 1% of his class.
Sharing his achievement on Linkedin, Samuel said his journey began with a solid foundation in mathematics, where he excelled as one of the brightest students in his secondary school.
With a JAMB score of 281/400 and an outstanding Post-UTME performance, he earned a merit-based admission to study Industrial Mathematics at FUTA.

Quoting Nelson Mandela’s timeless words, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” Samuel embarked on his university education with a singular focus on academics.
However, by his second year, he realized the broader purpose of education: to foster personal development and contribute meaningfully to society. This realization fueled his passion for combining academic excellence with leadership and volunteerism.
Throughout his time at FUTA, Samuel actively participated in leadership and volunteer roles, demonstrating a commitment to making a difference. He was the Director of Welfare, FUTA Graduating Class of 2023 Committee, the Electoral Chairman, of Nigerian Association of Mathematics Students (NAMSS) FUTA (2024/2025).
Samuel also served as the Southwest Zonal Coordinator, NAMSS (2023/2024), Director of Welfare, FUTA Student Union (2022/2023) Campus Ambassador, Cowrywise (2024) and Volunteer, Junior Achievement Nigeria and Tech4Dev.
In response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Samuel founded the JOMO Action Group. This initiative supported over 6,000 students through tutorials, reading materials, entrepreneurship training, and school fee interventions.
In 2023, his humanitarian efforts earned him the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the FUTA Student Union. Samuel’s dedication earned him numerous awards and scholarships, including: HillCity Foundation Scholarship (2021–2024), FUTA Management Scholarship (2023) and Ondo State Government Bursary Award (2023).
Samuel also earned an award as the Most Outstanding Student Leader Award, FUTA Student Union (2024) and Most Resourceful Student Award, School of Physical Science, FUTA (2023).
Samuel’s drive for growth led to professional affiliations with prestigious organizations such as ForbesBLK, Data Science Nigeria, and the Young African Leadership Initiative. His involvement highlights his commitment to academic and professional excellence.
Reflecting on his journey, Samuel expressed gratitude to God and everyone who contributed to his success. “This journey has been one of resilience, determination, and growth. I’m grateful for the people who supported and inspired me along the way,” he said.
