AFRICA | A 35-year-old Nigerian man named Julius Abimbola Odede has graduated with a first-class master’s degree in Data Science from the University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.
He began his undergraduate studies at Ladoke Akintola University, Nigeria where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at the Ladoke Akintola University, Nigeria before he moved to the United Kingdom for postgraduate studies.
Julius completed his postgraduate studies at the university’s School of Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science, where his passion for technology and innovation took deeper root.
He shared on LinkedIn that his journey into data science was inspired by his background in civil engineering. Over the years, his interest in artificial intelligence grew steadily.

Julius believes that AI represents the future and holds vast potential for transforming industries and improving lives. He sees it as a tool that, when properly regulated, can be used to solve some of the world’s pressing challenges and create lasting value for humanity.
“With the rise in Artificial Intelligence (AI) over the past few years, I think there will be lots of potential for career opportunities. AI will change the way we interact with computers and machines if it can be regulated,” Francis said.
Julius said he strongly desires to pursue a career that can make a positive impact on the world or involve teaching young people. He added that graduating from the university with a degree fills him with joy.
His experience at the university was amazing, adding that he had fantastic interactions with colleagues and lecturers, and had access to abundant learning resources.
“It’s been a good journey so far and I’m so proud to have graduated. I’m from Nigeria and I have family members who have graduated in Nursing from the University, and in my country, we use the UK education system as a benchmark,” he said.
Julius offers advice to those pursuing their dreams, emphasizing that belief is key, and it’s never too late or too early to learn.
He encourages everyone by sharing that if he can do it, anyone can. Juius highlights that his university experience underscored the importance of lifelong learning.
