Nigerian man, Peter Abegunrin bags Law degree with 4.97/5.00CGPA, breaks university’s 20-year-old record

A brilliant Nigerian man named Peter Abegurin has broken the 15-year-old record of Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Nigeria after bagging his degree with an outstanding 4.97 over a 5.00 cumulative grade point average.

Peter was also awarded the overall best-graduating student of the university’s 2020/2021 academic session. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Law with first-class honors.

Peter made history as the student with the highest cumulative grade points since the inception of Joseph Ayo Babalola University. He shared on his LinkedIn that he is excited to have maintained success five years after achieving a similar feat.

He said in his high school, he set the school’s record for West African Senior Secondary School Examinations (WASSCE) and obtained the best 2016 National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior exams result in his state.

Peter stated that studying Law at the university for five years was a challenging yet rewarding experience for him. He said it required a constant display of excellence and focus.

He mentioned that he had to combine academics with other activities. Peter served in different leadership positions, including President of the Law Students’ Society in my final year.

He also participated in extracurriculars and undertook internships at top-tier law firms. Peter said he is thrilled to see that all of his efforts, struggles, and doubts resulted in success.



Peter expressed his gratitude to am super grateful to God, his family, mentors, friends, and everyone who contributed to his success. He said he looks forward to achieving many more successes in life and the legal profession. 

In a similar story, a brilliant Nigerian man named Abdulganiyu Abdulrahman has broken the 49-year-old record of Usman Dafondiyo University (UDUS), Nigeria after scoring an outstanding 4.96 over 5.00 cumulative grade point average.

Aside from being an excellent student, Abdulrahman was also involved in different extracurricular activities and was a member of notable organizations at the university.
