A determined young Nigerian scholar,Oroghene Oboreh-Snapps has achieved a remarkable milestone by earning a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology, United States.
This accomplishment fulfills a promise he made to his parents at the age of 14. Taking to LinkedIn to celebrate his success, Oroghene reflected on his 15-year journey of perseverance and dedication.
“For 15 years, I poured my heart and soul into this journey, fueled by a dream to stand tall and a promise to my parents—to earn my PhD in Electrical Engineering before turning 30. On December 13th, that dream became my reality,” he shared.

Oroghene’s research expertise lies in AI applications for Power System Control and Stability, with a specific emphasis on Microgrid and Artificial Intelligence technologies.
He described the achievement as a moment more than a title but a testament to resilience, sacrifice, and unwavering faith. He expressed gratitude to his family, friends, lab mates, and his advisor for their support.
Oroghene began his higher education at Madonna University, Abuja, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He later pursued his master’s degree in the same field at Missouri University of Science and Technology.
Building on this foundation, he achieved his PhD with a focus on cutting-edge research in Artificial Intelligence and Microgrid Systems.
Oroghene’s journey was driven by a combination of faith, resilience, and the encouragement of his loved ones. He now looks forward to making significant contributions to the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Power Systems.
