Nigerian man whose poor parents sold books to sponsor him abroad becomes successful, bags two masters degrees in Harvard

A brilliant Nigerian man whose parents sold books to garner funds and sponsor him abroad for his study has made them proud after graduating with two Masters degree from the prestigious Havard University, Massecheuts, United States of America (USA).

The man who goes by the name Temitope Akande, received his first Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and then proceeded to the Harvard Kennedy School, Cambridge, Massachusetts, the United States to bag his Master’s Degree in public administration (MPA).

Temitope, who comes from a humble family, acknowledged his two parents’ efforts in supporting his education, stating that he would not have been able to attain his goals without the help of his parents in Nigeria.

“Couldn’t have done it without these 2 phenomenal people, especially my mother! She’s my hero!,” he wrote on LinkedIn

Temitope shared pictures of himself with his parents standing in front of the family bookshop where they were able to generate funds to sponsor his education, noting that he got inspired to study from the books he read to broaden his limits of what he could aspire for himself.

“This bookstore behind us practically raised me.. It made sure we didn’t starve. It was the place where I spent countless hours immersed in books, reading about worlds far far away, and expanding the limits of what I could aspire for myself.

‘Today, I’m a graduate of Wharton and Harvard. I’m so grateful!’,” Temitope said.


Temitope was congratulated on his academic feat by families and friends, Some people who patronize his parent bookshop also celebrated him and expressed great happiness for his entire family.
