AFRICA| A brilliant Nigerian man emerges best graduating student with first-class Geology degree, earns acceptance to US university
A brilliant Nigerian man named Raymond Aderoju emerged as the best-graduating student of his class after earning a first-class Geology degree at the Federal University of Technology Akure, Nigeria.
Raymond also gained admission to continue with his studies in the United States. He took to Linkedin to share his achievement of earning the acceptance stating that the new chapter builds on the solid foundation he received during his undergraduate studies.
He graduated at the top of his class and was the best student in the Department of Geology, Federal University of Technology Akure. Reflecting on his undergraduate years, Raymond said he is proud of the achievements, awards, and recognitions he received.

Raymond was awarded the University Prize for the Best Graduating Student in the Department of Applied Geology, the Dr. Olusegun Agagu’s Prize for the Best Graduating Student in Geology, the Funmi Robert Ebuwonjumi’s Prize for the Overall Best Student in the Department of Geology and Professor Adegoke Prize for the Best Student in Petroleum Geology (AGY403).
He said his recent accomplishments were made possible by the education and upbringing he received during his undergraduate studies. Raymond said he will be proceeding with a master’s degree in Geology at the University of Georgia, in the United States.
He said he is committed to building on this legacy of excellence as he takes on new challenges at the University of Georgia expressing his gratitude to everyone who contributed to his academic journey.
Raymond thanked his mentor whose support has been a constant source of motivation adding that his assistance, wise counsel, and the gifts to celebrate his academic milestones made the difference.
He stated that from his humble beginnings in his village Iseyin, Oyo State Nigeria, to the University of Georgia, the journey has been incredible. He said he is eager to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead and is committed to making a meaningful impact in all my future endeavors.
