Nigerian Media Personnel, Mo Abudu wins American Hollywood award, sets record

Nigerian Media Personnel, Mo Abudu  has earned a notable award from the popular American magazine, Hollywood Reporter for her excellent contribution to the entertainment industry.

Mosunmola Abudu, popularly known as Mo Abudu is a Nigerian media mogul, philanthropist, and former human resources management consultant. She has been described by Forbes as “Africa’s Most Successful Woman”.

She was honored by the Hollywood Reporter, a renowned American digital and print magazine dedicated to the entertainment industry. Mo Abudu was recognized by the magazine as Top International Woman Executive In Entertainment.

The notable recognition is as a result of her outstanding contributions to the global entertainment industry. The Hollywood Reporter’s annual list celebrates the achievements of extraordinary women in the entertainment sector worldwide.

Mo Abudu is the only Nigerian and African entertainment executive on The Hollywood Reporter’s list of 35 remarkable women for 2023. She created a career marked by innovation, resilience, and creativity.

She is the CEO of EbonyLife Media, an entertainment television channel. Through Ebony Life TV,  Mo Abudu has been a driving force behind the success of numerous blockbusters such as “Fifty,” “The Wedding Party,” “Your Excellency,” and “Òlòtūré.”

Talking about her achievement. she took to her Instagram to celebrate the recognition restating her dedication to initiatives that showcase African creativity.


”To be the first on a list of 35 remarkable women, representing diverse corners of our global industry, is both a privilege and a responsibility,” she said.

Mo Abudu added that she will provide funding opportunities, nurture local talent, foster international collaborations, and expand the horizons of the EbonyLife Creative Academy.

She was also recently appointed as the Creatives Champion for the upcoming United Kingdom-African Investment Summit by the UK Government, cementing her role as a global leader in the world of entertainment.

Mo Abudu holds a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Westminster in London. She was also awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters (Honouris Causa) from Babcock University, Nigeria.
