AFRICA | A brilliant young man named Olaoluwa Yomi-Bamigboye has emerged as one of the top graduating students from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) after earning an outstanding 4.95 CGPA out of 5.00 in Accounting.
His exceptional performance earned him recognition as the Second Best Graduating Student and Best Male Graduating Student in the Accounting Department, marking him as one of the brightest graduates of his class.
Olaoluwa's Story and How She Did It
Olaoluwa’s journey at UNILAG began in 2020, when he enrolled to study Accounting with a clear determination to excel academically.
Like many Nigerian students, his academic journey was not without challenges. His time in the university coincided with disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and prolonged ASUU strikes, which delayed academic calendars across the country.
Despite these setbacks, Olaoluwa remained focused and committed to his goals, maintaining consistent academic excellence throughout his undergraduate years. His perseverance eventually paid off when he graduated with outstanding results in 2025.

Sharing his achievement on LinkedIn, Olaoluwa reflected on the journey, noting that it has been over six years since he first stepped into UNILAG with optimism and the desire to make a meaningful impact.
He described his journey as one shaped by discipline, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. By graduation, his undergraduate years were marked by several impressive milestones.
Along with earning the best student award, Olaoluwa became a qualified Chartered Accountant, winning six national prizes in ICAN ATS II and III examinations.
As a student, he served as a Business Development Intern at Visa, was selected as a 2024 NHEF Scholar, and earned a membership in The Investment Society (TIS) as an alumnus
Olaoluwa also served as Co-Chairman of ACCESS 4.0 and later Chairman of ACCESS 5.0 (Accounting and Entrepreneurship Summit for Students), organised a marathon tutorial session for over 100 classmates, and received six undergraduate and professional scholarships.
Olaoluwa expressed deep gratitude to God for strength and guidance throughout difficult moments. He also acknowledged the support of his family, mentors, sponsors, and friends who contributed to his academic and personal growth.
For him, graduation is not an endpoint but the beginning of a new chapter. He looks forward to continuing a journey defined by impact, service, and excellence.
