The South East Doctoral Training Arc (SEDarc) is a partnership of six leading UK universities funded by the Economic Social Research Council (ESRC), which offers world-class postgraduate research training in the social sciences.
SEDarc is pleased to offer funding for doctoral studentships, supporting postgraduate researchers in undertaking impactful doctoral research and training.
SEDarc aims to offer outstanding research training that propels discovery and fosters innovation in our region, nationally, and globally, and equip researchers to thrive in challenge-led, collaborative, and interdisciplinary contexts through a portfolio of specialist research training.

Eligibility Requirements for SEDarc Scholarship UK 2026
To be considered for the SEDarc Scholarship UK, you must:
- be UK and international students
- be nominated by one of the six SEDarc institutions to apply to the doctoral programme.
- have qualifications or professional experience equivalent to a Masters degree, or a Masters degree and already have the research skills needed to successfully complete the PhD research project.
- students who do not already possess a Master’s degree in the social sciences may also be eligible for funding to undertake an approved Master’s course in the SEDarc consortium (see website for details).
