Three remarkable sisters, Esihle, Sinovuyo, and Sisipho Mbiyo, have achieved an inspiring milestone, graduating with Bachelor’s degrees in Law (LLB) at the same time from the University of the Free State in South Africa.
Their achievement is not just academic, it is a powerful story of unity, discipline, and shared purpose that made their family, especially their mother, incredibly proud.
The Mbiyo sisters' Story and How She Did It
Originally from Mthatha in the Eastern Cape, the triplets navigated the demanding four-year law programme side by side. Law is known for its intensity, but the sisters made the journey easier by working together every step of the way.
They built a system that worked, early morning library sessions, shared notes, and constant revision. When faced with challenging courses like Civil Procedure, they relied on teamwork, testing one another with mock questions to ensure no one was left behind.
“We never compared marks. Instead, it was motivation among us. If one person did better, it pushed the others to improve. It was healthy competition,” Sisipho shared.
Beyond academics, the sisters were actively involved in campus life. They participated in moot court competitions, served as peer mentors in their residences, and were members of the Golden Key International Honour Society.

Sisipho, who has a hearing impairment, stood out for breaking barriers. She received recognition from the university, served as Vice-Chairperson of the Law Association, and was named Best Speaker in a faculty mock trial competition.
Sisipho proved that challenges do not define one’s potential. Behind their success was a strong support system. Their parents encouraged them without pressure, allowing each of them to grow individually while succeeding together.
During exam periods, their mother would stay awake on video calls just to keep them company as they studied late into the night. Their father consistently sent messages of encouragement, and even extra support for meals during long study sessions.
On their graduation day, their mother watched with pride as all three daughters received their degrees at the same time, a moment that captured years of sacrifice, discipline, and love.
Inspired by legal professionals in their community, the sisters are already pursuing their Master’s degrees at the same university.
They are determined to use their legal education to make a meaningful impact, from supporting vulnerable individuals to educating young people about their rights.
While their careers may eventually take them in different directions, their shared journey has built a lifelong foundation of strength, support, and excellence.
