A brilliant young lady, Beenzu Namanje, has achieved remarkable success, earning a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with distinction from the École Nationale des Sciences Appliquées d’Al Hoceima in Morocco.
At just 24 years old, she has made history as the first Zambian female to graduate from the institution with such an achievement. Her journey is one of courage, resilience, and breaking barriers.
Beenzu's Story and How She Did It
Before her journey even began, Beenzu was met with discouraging words: “No female Zambian has ever made it. The programme is too difficult.”
But instead of backing down, she chose to believe in herself. Born and raised in Westvilla, Mazabuka, Zambia, Beenzu grew up in a disciplined environment that valued education.
She attended Niko Girls Technical Secondary School, where she excelled academically and graduated with outstanding results. Her performance earned her a government scholarship through HELSB in 2019 to study in Morocco.
One of her biggest hurdles was language. Her entire programme was taught in French, forcing her to spend a year learning the language before even beginning her core engineering courses.

This process was further complicated by the COVID-19 pandemic, making her journey even more demanding. Despite these obstacles, Beenzu remained focused.
Six years later, her perseverance paid off. She graduated with distinction in Mechanical Engineering, not just earning a degree, but making history.
Reflecting on her journey, she shared: “This didn’t start here. It started in Mazabuka… with a young girl carrying a dream that didn’t fully make sense to everyone.”
Her success is more than a personal milestone, it is a powerful statement that challenges limitations and inspires others. “Sometimes, the path doesn’t exist until someone walks it,” she said.
Beenzu wants her story to stand as a source of inspiration to young girls across Africa and beyond, especially those who have been told their dreams are “too difficult.” She sees this not as the peak, but as the beginning:
“This is not the highlight. This is momentum. The vision is bigger,” she declared.
