69-year-old, Tadesse Ghichile, a father of 11 children from Ethiopia, is proving that it’s never too late to chase a dream. After decades away from school, he made the bold decision to return to high school to fulfill his lifelong ambition of becoming a medical doctor.
Orphaned at a young age, Tadesse was forced to drop out of school after middle school, unable to continue his education due to financial struggles.
For years, the responsibilities of family life made it difficult for him to go back. However, in 2012, he finally returned to high school, determined to complete his education.
Despite the challenges, Tadesse remained focused and excelled in Ethiopia’s national university entrance exam, securing admission to Jimma University in western Ethiopia, where he is currently studying medicine.

Supporting himself while pursuing his medical degree has been no easy task. To pay his tuition and provide for his family, Tadesse works as a small-scale farmer and at a local café in his village.
Though the journey has been tough, Tadesse remains optimistic about the future. Over the years, he has received tremendous support from his university peers, who admire his dedication and perseverance.
In another story, 53-year-old Nigerian man, S.O. Samson has proven that with resilience and determination, no dream is unattainable.
After a 33-year-long academic journey filled with challenges and setbacks, he has finally earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.
Dr. Samson’s pursuit of a veterinary degree began in 1992 when he gained admission to ABU Zaria.
However, his dreams were repeatedly crushed as he faced multiple withdrawals from the program—first in 1992, again in 2002, and later in 2011 at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID). Read more about Samson HERE,
