An exceptional young lady named Jayla Brown has achieved an extraordinary academic milestone at just 26 years old.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree, a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), a Doctor of Healthcare Administration (DHA), and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) — in addition to being a licensed Registered Nurse.
Her journey reflects years of discipline, resilience, faith, and unwavering focus in one of the most demanding professional fields.
Jayla's Story and How She Did It
Growing up, Jayla’s mother constantly emphasized the importance of leadership. “Be the head, not the tail,” her mother would often say.
At the time, Jayla did not fully understand those words. Today, she said that mindset pushed her to pursue excellence in every season of her life.
Jayla graduated from high school in 2017 at just 17 years old. Two months later, she enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on a four-year contract.
While serving on active duty, including time stationed in Japan, she refused to pause her education. In just two and a half years, she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at the University of Maryland while fulfilling her military responsibilities.
In 2021, after completing her service, Jayla transitioned out of the Marine Corps and was accepted into the accelerated Master’s Nursing Pathway program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
By 2022, she began nursing school. During her program, she successfully passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), officially becoming a Registered Nurse.
That same year, at just 23 years old, she graduated with her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). Rather than slowing down, Jayla accelerated.
Immediately after earning her MSN, she enrolled in a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at Virginia University of Lynchburg.
While pursuing her DNP, she simultaneously began working toward a Doctor of Healthcare Administration (DHA). In 2025, at age 25, she earned her first doctoral degree, the Doctor of Healthcare Administration.
Just months later, in 2026 at age 26, she completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice, making her the holder of two doctoral degrees before turning 27. Reflecting on her journey, Jayla shared: “They said slow down. I accelerated. God’s timing = everything.”
She described the path as deeply personal and spiritual. Behind the titles were long nights, early mornings, moments of doubt, and seasons when rest felt like a luxury. But she persisted.
“Not because it was easy. But because I knew the purpose was bigger than the pressure,” she said. Jayla credits her success to faith, sacrifice, consistency, and perseverance, not luck.
“Two doctoral degrees. At 26. Not by accident. Not by luck. By faith. By sacrifice. By perseverance,” she wrote on Facebook.
