A brilliant young lady named Maame Ofeibea Asokwa-Boaten, has achieved remarkable success after emerging as the Valedictorian of the School of Graduate Studies at the University of Ghana, Legon.
She earned a Master’s degree in International Business with distinction, standing out as the best graduating student in her cohort.
What makes her achievement even more inspiring is that she accomplished this while working full-time as a banker, successfully balancing the demands of both career and academics.
Maame's Story and How She Did It
Maame’s academic journey began at Central University Ghana, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance in 2019.
Shortly after graduating, she began her professional career at CAL Bank, where she steadily grew through the ranks—from Client Service Representative to Bank Teller, and eventually to Central Clearing Officer.
After gaining four years of industry experience, she made the bold decision to return to school. She enrolled for her Master’s degree at the University of Ghana, determined to further her education while continuing her full-time job.
But the journey was not easy. According to Maame, balancing work and academics meant long days that started before sunrise and nights that stretched far beyond regular hours.

She recalled that there were moments of exhaustion, doubt, and sacrifice, but she remained focused and disciplined.
In 2025, her hard work paid off as she graduated not only with distinction but also as the overall best graduating student (Valedictorian). Reflecting on her journey, she described the experience as both challenging and deeply rewarding.
“Balancing work and academics meant long days and even longer nights. There were moments of doubt and exhaustion, but those moments built resilience, discipline, and focus,” she said.
She added that graduating as valedictorian represents more than academic excellence, it reflects perseverance, growth, and the strength of a solid support system.
Maame expressed heartfelt gratitude to her mentors, family, friends, and colleagues who supported her throughout the journey.
