AFRICA | A brilliant Nigerian lady named Eseosa Uwagboe has graduated with a First Class Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), earning an outstanding 4.90 CGPA out of 5.00.
Her exceptional academic performance also earned her 10 awards, including recognition as the Best Graduating Student in the College of Law.
Eseosa's Story and How She Did It
Eseosa began her academic journey in 2018, enrolling in a five-year Law programme. Throughout her time at ABUAD, she maintained consistent excellence without recording a single failure. In 2023, she graduated with one of the highest CGPAs recorded in her faculty.
Celebrating her achievement on LinkedIn, Eseosa credited her success to God, her parents, and years of discipline and sacrifice.
“Over the course of five years and ten semesters, I attribute my achievements to the greatness of God, which has been the foundation of it all. I am extremely grateful to my parents, who have been my rock,” she said.
During her undergraduate years, Eseosa achieved several milestones, including emerging as Overall Best in Nigeria in the NICARB Associate Examination (2022). She explained that her success was driven by three core principles: determination, hard work, and spiritual focus.
According to her, she set a clear goal from her first day in university to graduate with a First Class degree and pushed herself beyond expectations.
“Hard work meant long hours in the library, extra effort, and consistency. Prayer and faith also gave me the strength to keep going,” she noted.
Beyond her academic excellence, Eseosa was also awarded the prestigious Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN) Scholarship, a moment she described as one of the happiest of her life.
“I wondered how I would compete with over 100 brilliant law students, but on the day of the interview, I felt an unexplainable confidence. When I got the scholarship, it was pure joy,” she said.
With a 4.90 CGPA, over 10 academic awards, and recognition as a BOSAN Scholar, Eseosa described her journey as one filled with gratitude and purpose.
She expressed deep appreciation to her mentor, Damilola S. Olawuyi, SAN, BOSAN, past scholarship winners, and her friends for their constant support.
In 2024, she proceeded to the Nigerian Law School under the BOSAN scholarship, completing the mandatory professional training for law graduates. She graduated with honours in 2025, earning awards in Civil Litigation and Professional Ethics.
Reflecting on those moments, Eseosa said the awards reminded her that her sacrifices, late-night reading, and prayers were not in vain.
