This Lady earned her bachelors and masters degrees in Economics with distinction, wins best student award

A brilliant young Nigerian lady named Moshood Moyosore has distinguished herself academically by earning a First-Class Bachelor’s degree in Economics and later a Master of Science in Economics with distinction at the University of Lagos, Nigeria

She completed her Msc finishing as the best graduating student of her class. Her journey reflects resilience, discipline, and a commitment to excellence.

Moyosore's Story and How She Did It

Moyosore began her academic journey at the University of Lagos in 2018, enrolling for a bachelor’s degree in Accounting before switching to Economics.

Upon her resumption, she set a personal goal to graduate with a First-Class and as the best student. In 2023, she achieved her First-Class degree in Economics, though she narrowly missed the best student award.

Not letting this setback deter her, she also pursued professional qualifications with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), earning certification and two awards as the Overall Best Student, ICAN Skills Level, and Performance Management, ICAN (2020).

Reflecting on her journey, she shared on LinkedIn about the promise she made to herself and how she made sure to try again when she failed it. “Years ago, I made a quiet promise to myself: finishing my first degree with a First Class was a must,” she said.

”When I didn’t come out as the best graduating student, I quietly told myself, I will try again. And I did this time while juggling a demanding 9–5 job, late nights, early mornings, pressure, and faith,” she added.

Moyosore sees this achievement as more than an award; she said it represents resilience over comfort, purpose over pressure, and courage to try again

Moyosore credits her success to faith, discipline, family, mentors, and support networks. Her story is a powerful reminder that setbacks are not the end, and pursuing your dreams twice, or even more, can lead to an extraordinary outcome
