Anwulika's Story and How She Did It
Anwulika’s academic journey began in Nigeria when she gained admission into the University of Lagos in 2013 to study History and Strategic Studies.
From the beginning, she distinguished herself academically through diligence and a passion for learning. Over the next four years, she immersed herself in her studies and developed a strong interest in research, policy, and development issues.
Her hard work paid off in 2017 when she graduated with a First-Class degree, an achievement that laid the foundation for her future academic pursuits.
Following her undergraduate studies, she built a growing career as a researcher, policy-oriented scholar, and development practitioner.

At Harvard, she immersed herself in advanced academic research while serving as a graduate assistant. Throughout her doctoral journey, she balanced rigorous scholarship with her professional commitments and continued contributing to research and development initiatives.
The programme demanded years of intensive research, critical thinking, academic writing, and original contributions to knowledge in her field.
Through perseverance and commitment, she successfully navigated the demands of one of the world’s most prestigious doctoral programmes.
In 2026, after years of study and research, Anwulika completed her PhD and graduated from Harvard University, turning a dream that began in childhood into reality. Reflecting on the achievement in a heartfelt LinkedIn post, she described the moment as almost surreal.
Anwulika stated that the journey began many years earlier when she stood on the assembly ground of her secondary school and boldly declared that she would one day attend Harvard University.
At the time, she had no idea how it would happen. She simply held onto the dream with faith. Years later, while preparing her Harvard application, fear nearly stopped her from submitting it.
She questioned whether Harvard was truly possible for someone like her. Fortunately, she found the courage to apply and that decision changed her life.
She vividly recalled the day she received her admission letter and the moment she left Nigeria to begin a journey filled with uncertainty, growth, and discovery. Today, she stands as a Harvard PhD graduate.
Anwulika expressed deep gratitude to her family, who encouraged her and believed in her dreams throughout the journey. She also thanked her teachers, professors, mentors, friends, church community, and academic supervisors for their support, guidance, and encouragement.
Most importantly, she credited God for sustaining her vision and helping her achieve what once seemed impossible.
Reflecting on the significance of the moment, she noted that there is a profound difference between having a dream and living long enough to see it fulfilled.
As she celebrated her graduation, she reflected on the promise she made to herself years earlier and the journey that followed.
