A determined young lady named Adeleke Shakirat Adenike has achieved remarkable success after facing rejection from nursing school three times before finally earning a Bachelor of Nursing Science with an outstanding 4.59 cumulative grade point average.
Shakirat graduated from the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Nigeria where she was honored with multiple awards for her brillant performance.
Her journey is a powerful story of resilience, determination, and refusing to give up on her dreams.
Shakirat's Story and How She Did It
After finishing secondary school, Shakirat sat for the School of Nursing entrance examinations three different times in 2018 and 2019, but all her attempts to secure admission after proved abortive.
For many people, repeated rejection would have ended the dream. But for Shakirat, it became motivation to keep pushing forward.
Since nursing admission did not come immediately, she enrolled in a Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW) programme at the Health Technology School in Offa, Nigeria.
She invested her time, energy, and resources into that programme while still holding onto her nursing ambition. Fortunately, she secured admission into Usmanu Danfodiyo University in 2020, where she made the bold decision to start over and pursue Nursing.

Her admission meant relocating from Western Nigeria to Sokoto in Northern Nigeria, stepping into a completely new environment with no familiar support system.
Despite the uncertainty, she embraced the challenge and stayed focused.
Shakirat maintained excellence throughout the demanding years of nursing school and eventually graduated with a 4.59 CGPA, earning a first-class degree.
She was also officially inducted into the nursing profession as both a Registered Nurse (RN) and a Registered Midwife (RM).
Beyond graduating with distinction, she also won multiple academic awards, including Best Student in Maternal and Child Health Nursing, Pediatric Nursing and also Community Health Nursing.
These recognitions highlight her dedication and mastery in some of the most important areas of healthcare training.
Reflecting on Her Journey, Shakirat expressed pride in herself for remaining steadfast through years of setbacks and credited her success to God.
