A determined Nigerian lady named Eniola Olalekan, has achieved remarkable success after overcoming years of setbacks to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the National Open University of Nigeria.
Her journey is one of resilience, persistence, and refusing to give up—despite facing nearly five years of delays before finally gaining admission.
Eniola's Story and How She Did It
Eniola completed her secondary school education in 2014 with big dreams and immediately began pursuing university admission. However, her path was far from smooth.
After scoring 180 in her first JAMB attempt, she secured admission into Yaba College of Technology, but was forced to drop out when her mother lost her business due to fraud.
Rather than give up, she tried again in 2016, scoring 236 and gaining admission into Olabisi Onabanjo University. With support from a relative, she began the process, but financial challenges once again cut her journey short.
In 2018, she picked herself up and started working as a Quality Control officer in Ikeja while still chasing her academic goals.
Eniola wrote JAMB again, this time scoring 263 and gaining admission into Tai Solarin University of Education. But fate dealt another blow, her phone was stolen, leaving her unreachable during a critical period, and she lost the admission.
Though she felt like quiting and almost gave up, but Eniola did not.
In 2019, she started afresh at the National Open University of Nigeria. Even then, the challenges did not stop, financial struggles forced her to defer semesters, and her final-year project phase stretched for nearly two years due to delays and uncertainty.
Through it all, she remained consistent.
Reflecting on her journey, Eniola described moments of frustration, tears, and near defeat—but she kept showing up for herself. Today, she proudly celebrates earning her degree, proving that persistence can outlast even the toughest obstacles.
