A determined Nigerian lady named Daniel Oguntimehin, has achieved remarkable success after earning a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with an outstanding 3.96/4.00 cumulative grade point from the University of Ibadan.
His story is more inspiring is that he achieved success in the same course he was once denied admission into because of its cut off mark.
Daniel's Story and How He Did It
Daniel’s journey was not smooth or straightforward. In 2019, he applied to study Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Ibadan but fell slightly below the required cut-off mark. Instead, he was offered admission to study Mathematics.
For many, that might have been the end of the dream, but not for him. During the 2020/2021 academic session, despite disruptions from COVID-19 and ASUU strikes, Daniel made a clear decision: excel and find his way back to his dream course.
And he did that. He finished his first year in Mathematics with an impressive 3.93/4.00 GPA, emerging as the best student in both his department and faculty.
That outstanding performance enabled him to transfer into Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 200 level. And once he got in, he remained consistent with his pursuit for success.

Daniel went on to maintain exceptional academic consistency, recording six consecutive 4.0 GPAs throughout his engineering program. By 2026, he graduated with a 3.96/4.00 CGPA, ranking second in both his department and faculty.
Beyond academics, his passion for engineering deepened during his final year after attending a lecture that introduced him to industrial automation and control systems.
Since then, he has been actively building skills in PLC programming, Industrial automation systems and Control systems.
As a mark of his professional growth, he was also inducted into the Nigerian Society of Engineers as a Graduate Member (GMNSE).
Reflecting on his journey via a Linkedin post, Daniel described his induction as a deeply fulfilling moment, especially because it represents success in a field he had dreamed of since childhood.
