An exceptional mother of two children named Ke’Yonna Hall has earned a Master’s degree from the University of Texas Arlington in the United States despite working to take care of her two sons.
Hall, a single mother of two, obtained a Master’s of Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington, United States, an achievement she said will help remind and show her children that no dream is too distant.
”Graduating with a Master’s of Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington with two toddlers feels more than a personal achievement. It’s a testament to perseverance and the unwavering support of my incredible village,” she told Business Insider.
She stated that the journey began three years ago after her relationship with her husband ended due to his infidelity. Hall said she decided to prioritize herself over the marriage with hopes that they will co-parent well, but it did not turn out twell

Determined to succeed, Hall remained focused on being the best mother she could be and decided to further her education. She said initially she knew it would be challenging since she was the first in her family to ever graduate school, but she did not expect the difficulties.
”As a first-generation high school and college graduate, I knew obtaining another degree would be challenging. However I didn’t realize how different those challenges would be in my present reality,” Hall said.
Hall said when she discussed her plans to continue her graduate studies with others, some encouraged the decision while others said balancing her studies with her children would be challenging.
Hall said many suggested she waited until her children were older and though she welcomed their feedback and knew it could be done, she just had to figure out how.
She stated that she dared to challenge the notion that single motherhood equals struggle. Hall said she wanted to show her children that dreams should never be put on hold and that perseverance is key to success.
She started her master’s degree when her eldest son was just 15 months old, and her youngest was only 3 months old. Hall said balancing her career in political organizing with the demands of graduate school and parenting was not an easy feat.
Hall stated that she juggled late-night assignments, mandatory practicums, and early mornings filled with her children’s favorite Pixar movies. However, with the moments, filled with love and laughter, she persevered and remained determined to succeed.
She said she created systems and routines that worked for her family. She scheduled work blocks during her children’s nap times and involved them in household chores to keep them engaged.
‘“During different stages of my graduate program, I adapted our routine,” Ke’Yonna explains. “Involving them in our routine kept them busy and engaged. With their love and constant support, we not only survived but thrived,” she said.
Hall mentioned that she recognized as one of 17 outstanding students out of a graduating class of over 20o. She said the award is the testament of the nights of hard work and determination she put in.
She said for her and her sons, the degree represents countless nights balancing deadlines with their growth and development milestones. ”I set a goal to finish what I started for them. In the end, we did this together,” she said.
