A determined Nigerian woman named Mrs. Alaaka has fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a lawyer after being called to the Nigerian Bar just days before her 60th birthday.

Mrs. Alaaka's Story and How She Did It
Her journey began decades ago in the 1980s when she initially applied to study Law at university.
However, she was offered a different course, Education instead. Rather than give up, she accepted the offer and went on to earn a degree in Education, eventually building a successful career as a teacher.
For over 35 years, she dedicated her life to teaching, impacting countless students before retiring from service. But despite her achievements, her dream of becoming a lawyer never faded.
Determined to rewrite her story, Mrs. Alaaka returned to school years later and enrolled at Obafemi Awolowo University, where she pursued a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree.

Mrs. Alaaka’s journey was not without challenges. She faced delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and academic strikes, but she remained focused and resilient. In 2024, she successfully earned her law degree.
Taking the next required step, she proceeded to the Nigerian Law School for the mandatory one-year professional training. With dedication and perseverance, she completed the rigorous program.
In 2025, her decades-long dream finally came true—she was called to the Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, just days before turning 60.
Through her son’s post, Mrs. Alaaka is now as an inspiration to many, proving that age is not a barrier to success and that persistence can turn even the llifelong dreams into reality.
