A brilliant young engineer named Saarty Mikka-Ndjiva has earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Management Strategy from the University of Namibia.
She graduated with six distinctions in a remarkable academic achievement that reflects years of excellence across both engineering and business.
Her success is especially inspiring because it highlights a rare transition from thriving in the male-dominated field of engineering to achieving another major academic milestone in business and management.
Saarty's Story and How She Did It
Saarty began her academic journey at the Polytechnic of Namibia, where she earned a diploma in Electrical Engineering in 2013. Determined to deepen her expertise in the field, she continued her studies the following year at Stellenbosch University in South Africa.
There, she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, graduating in 2018 after years of rigorous technical training and academic discipline.
Rather than stopping there, she continued pushing herself academically and professionally. In 2021, she returned to Stellenbosch University to pursue a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, which she completed in 2022.
Alongside her academic growth, she also achieved another major professional milestone by earning her registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng.), a recognition that reflects both competence and credibility within the engineering profession.

Throughout her engineering journey, Saarty faced the realities many women encounter in technical industries such as moments of doubt, pressure, and questions about belonging in spaces traditionally dominated by men.
Despite these challenges, she remained determined to succeed. She described her professional engineer registration as deeply meaningful because of the obstacles she had to overcome throughout her career.
According to her, there were moments she questioned whether she truly belonged in the field, but persistence and hard work kept her moving forward.
She continues to advocate for greater inclusion, reminding young women that they have the talent, ability, and resilience needed to succeed in engineering.
After establishing herself academically and professionally in engineering, Saarty decided to broaden her expertise by moving into business and strategic management.
She enrolled for an MBA in Management Strategy at the University of Namibia, where she once again demonstrated academic excellence by graduating with six distinctions. Beyond academics, Saarty has built an impressive professional career within Namibia’s energy sector.
She began working as a Power Station Engineer in NamPower’s Generation Division before transitioning into the Transmission Division, where she specialized in protection systems, testing, automation, commissioning, and control engineering.
Her expertise later expanded into telecommunications and commercial engineering, eventually leading to her current role as an Engineer in NamPower’s Supply Business Section.
Outside her corporate responsibilities, Saarty remains deeply involved in professional development and community advancement.
She serves as the Deputy Secretary General of the Namibian Society of Engineers (NASE), contributes as a member of NamPower’s Affirmative Action Committee.
Saarty also sits on the board of the Silicon Institute of Science and Technology (SiT), a Namibian-owned institution focused on applied engineering and technology education.
Through these leadership roles, she continues to promote professional growth, educational advancement, and inclusivity within engineering and technology spaces.
