A brilliant Nigerian lady named Jubilee Obadaki, has achieved remarkable academic success after earning a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Ibadan with an outstanding 3.74/4.00 cumulative grade point average.
Her excellent performance earned her the Best Female Graduating Student Award in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
She was also inducted as a Graduate Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (GMNSE), marking the beginning of her professional engineering journey.
Jubilee's Story and How She Did It
Jubilee began her studies in 2020 and maintained a strong record of excellence throughout her five years at the university.
Reflecting on her journey, she shared that many people questioned her decision to study Mechanical Engineering, often suggesting she choose a more “female-friendly” field.
Despite the doubts, she stayed focused and proved her capability through hard work and consistency. She graduated at the top of her class and was the Best Female Graduating Student of ehr department.
Additionally, Jubilee was also the 4th Overall Best Graduating Student in Mechanical Engineering and 5-time Dean’s Roll of Honour Awardee.
Her final-year project titled Development and Performance Evaluation of a Low-Cost Modular Automated Drug Dispenser ranked among the best in the department and faculty.
Beyond academics, Jubilee built an outstanding portfolio through leadership, innovation, and scholarships.
She served in several student leadership positions, including Programs Manager, IEEE UI Student Branch, Co-chair, Technology and Engineering Students’ Association Conference
and Treasurer, NIMECHE University of Ibadan.
She also excelled in competitions and programs, including Finalist, National Research Symposium 2025, Second Place, IEEE UI Hackathon, First Runner-up, LEEDS Engineering Enterprise Competition, Finalist, Wema Bank Hackaholic Ideathon and Fourth Runner-up, Hult Prize UI.
Jubilee was also recognized through several prestigious scholarships, including Julius Berger Nigeria Plc Scholarship, Nigeria Higher Education Foundation Scholar, The Bridge Program Scholar. Afro-Tech Girls Scholarship, Millennium Campus Network Fellow Internship Experience.
She gained hands-on engineering experience through internships at different notable companies. Jubilee described her university journey as a wholesome experience of learning, growth, leadership, and resilience.
Moving ahead, Jubilee said she is open to opportunities in Applied Mechanical Design and Systems Engineering, ready to contribute her knowledge and skills to solving real-world problems.
