AMERICA | A brilliant young woman named Eryka Annabell Clarke, has achieved an inspiring milestone as the first university graduate in her family after earning a Political Science degree from Howard University in the United States.

Her exceptional academic performance and strong leadership potential opened doors to three of the world’s most prestigious universities for her master’s degree, a moment that marked the continuation of her rising scholarly journey.

Eryka's Story and How She Did It

Eryka’s journey is rooted in resilience. As a first-generation college student, she stepped into Howard University in 2019 with determination, humility, and a fierce desire to break barriers for her family.

Her time at Howard, she explained, was transformational,  a space that molded her intellect, stretched her abilities, and prepared her for the challenging road that awaited her beyond graduation.

Her academic brilliance and ambition soon caught global attention. In her final year, Eryka received acceptance offers from three Ivy-level institutions including Harvard University, University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University.

After deep consideration, Annabell chose Harvard University, where she pursued a Master’s Degree in Education, specializing in: Policy, Quantitative Analysis and Law.

She completed her program in 2024, describing the experience as one that transformed her not just academically, but personally,  shaping her identity as a woman, a leader, and a future policymaker.

Now in 2025, Eryka continues to build an extraordinary academic legacy. Her commitment to educational equity, public policy, and justice has made her a standout applicant once again.

She recently received multiple law school offers, including: Harvard University again, Georgetown University, George Washington University, Howard University, Yale University and Temple University.

After careful reflection, she decided to study law at Yale Law School, a community she admires for its bold ideas, deep commitment to service, and culture of intellectual curiosity.

Throughout her academic rise, Annabell remains grounded in gratitude. She credits her family for their sacrifices as first-generation supporters, her mentors for their guidance, and her friends for their encouragement during moments of doubt.

She emphasizes that every achievement she celebrated was shared: “I did not get to this moment alone.”

To every young person, especially first-generation students, Annabell offers a gentle but powerful reminder: “Nothing you have done is greater than what you are still yet to achieve.”
