AFRICA | A brilliant Nigerian lady named Eboh Mmachukwu Chioma Blossom has achieved remarkable success after graduating from the University of Nigeria (UNN) with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).
Her story is more exceptional because she proudly became the first Medical Doctor in her family.
Blossom's Story and How She Did It
In 2019, Blossom began her academic journey at UNN, driven by the dream of saving lives and building a legacy as a medical doctor. For her, the road was never smooth.
What should have been a 5-year program stretched into 7 years, largely due to incessant strikes within Nigeria’s educational system and the COVID-19 pandemic, which shut schools worldwide for nearly a year.
Despite the setbacks, Blossom pressed forward. Each stage of the MBBS program, being intense became a new mountain to climb.
Sharing her achievement on LinkedIn, Blossom described her final 5th MBBS professional exam, the final exam to become a doctor in Nigeria, as her hardest battle yet.
”The 5th MBBS was one of the hardest mountains I’ve ever had to climb. It tested my mental, physical, and emotional health. I struggled with bouts of self-doubt and unwarranted anxiety when these are things that are normally foreign to me,” she said.
”Through it all, God’s grace never left me, and for this I will forever be grateful. Thank you, Jesus,” Blossom added.
After seven long years, Blossom successfully passed her final exams and officially became a Medical Doctor. For her family, it was a generational breakthrough being the first doctor in her lineage, a title she carries with pride and gratitude.
