A brilliant young woman, Okechukwu Chidiogo Davina has achieved remarkable success, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Radiography from Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) overcoming years of delay and disappointment.
Her journey stands as a reminder that academic success is not always immediate, but with resilience and consistency, you can still achieve your dream.
Davina's Story and How She Did It
Her journey did not begin smoothly. Davina graduated from secondary school as one of the best students in her set, with expectation to begin university immediately.
However, reality came differently. Her first attempt at the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (JAMB) did not secure her admission. On her second attempt, she was offered Biochemistry instead of her dream course, Radiography, and she turned down the offer.
Determined to stay focused on her goal, Davina sat for JAMB a third time. However, the period came with emotional and mental strain as she watched her peers move forward while she repeated the same cycle of preparation and waiting,
Davina was alsomst dicouraged describing it as moments of frustration, embarrassment, and self-doubt. Yet, even in those difficult seasons, she kept going, supported strongly by her family—especially her father, who consistently encouraged her not to give up on her dream.

Eventually, her persistence paid off. In 2019, she gained admission into Nnamdi Azikiwe University to study Radiography. That moment marked a turning point in her journey, shifting her story from repeated setbacks to steady academic progress.
At UNIZIK, Davina committed herself to years of rigorous training that combined theoretical coursework with intensive clinical practice.
Radiography, being a highly specialized and demanding medical field, required discipline, consistency, and emotional endurance. Through it all, she maintained focus and gradually built the competence expected of a healthcare professional.
After five years of academic and clinical training, she graduated in 2026, not only with her degree but also as a licensed radiographer.
Reflecting on her journey, Davina dedicated her success to her father and family, acknowledging their unwavering support during her most difficult moments.
She described how their encouragement kept her grounded when she felt like giving up, and how their belief in her helped her stay committed to her goal despite repeated setbacks.
She also shared a message of encouragement for others facing delays in their own academic journey, reminding them that setbacks do not define the final outcome.
Davina stated that persistence, faith, and support systems can transform even the most frustrating waiting periods into meaningful success stories.
