A brilliant young man named Segun Omole has graduated from Harvard Law School in the United States, earning a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with honors (cum laude).
With his achievement, he fulfilled a childhood dream he had pursued for years through dedication, hard work, and academic excellence.
Segun’s achievement is remarkable because it represents the successful completion of a long academic journey that began many years ago.
Through consistent excellence, determination, and a commitment to learning, he transformed a dream he held as a teenager into reality at one of the world’s most prestigious law schools.
Segun's Story and How He Did It
Right from a young age, Segun demonstrated exceptional academic ability. He attended Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja, where he graduated with a perfect 4.00 Grade Point Average, emerging as one of the school’s top students.
Even at that stage, he had already developed a strong passion for law and envisioned a future as a legal professional. After completing secondary school, Segun moved abroad to further his education.
He enrolled in a foundation programme at Birkbeck School of Law in the United Kingdom, where he studied the eight foundational courses required for legal education.
The intensive one-year programme covered Commercial Law, Contract Law, Equity and Trusts, Property Law, Tort Law, Criminal Law, British Constitutional and Administrative Law, and European Union Law.

The programme provided him with a strong academic foundation and further strengthened his interest in pursuing a legal career.
Following the successful completion of the programme, Segun gained admission to New York University Abu Dhabi, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies.
After graduating from NYU Abu Dhabi, Segun continued his academic journey in Asia. He secured a place at Tsinghua University in China as a member of the sixth cohort of the highly competitive Schwarzman Scholars programme.
At Tsinghua University, Segun pursued a master’s degree in Management Science and Global Affairs, graduating in 2023.
During the programme, he completed a capstone project focused on Blockchain Adoption and Regulation in China, which allowed him to develop expertise in emerging technologies, Chinese policymaking, and international affairs.
Reflecting on the experience, Segun described the Schwarzman Scholars programme as transformative, noting that it equipped him with valuable academic, leadership, and professional skills that would continue to shape his career.
Despite his growing list of accomplishments, there was still one dream he had not yet fulfilled.
Shortly after completing his master’s degree, Segun announced that he had gained admission into Harvard Law School to pursue a Juris Doctor degree, a goal he described as a childhood dream.
Sharing the exciting news at the time, he expressed gratitude to God, his parents, teachers, mentors, and educational institutions that had supported him throughout his journey.
He specifically acknowledged Loyola Jesuit College and New York University Abu Dhabi for helping shape him into the scholar and leader he had become.
Segun also spoke about his excitement to begin the next phase of his legal journey after completing a challenging and rewarding summer as an SEO Law Fellow at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, one of the leading law firms in the United States.
For the next three years, Segun immersed himself in one of the most rigorous legal education programmes in the world. Through countless hours of studying, research, legal writing, and classroom discussions, he steadily worked toward the dream he had nurtured since childhood.
Now, in 2026, that dream has become reality. Segun has officially graduated from Harvard Law School with a Juris Doctor degree, earning the distinction of graduating cum laude.
Reflecting on the milestone, he described the achievement as the realization of a goal that his 13-year-old self had envisioned and worked toward relentlessly for years.
Segun stated that the past three years at Harvard had been the most empowering and enriching period of his life, giving him both the knowledge and confidence to engage with complex global issues and prepare for a meaningful legal career.
Looking back on his journey, Segun expressed deep gratitude to everyone who contributed to his success and encouraged others to pursue their dreams boldly.
“Here’s to dreaming big, manifesting boldly, working relentlessly, and achieving what was once mere imagination,” he said.
