AFRICA | An exceptional Nigerian scholar, Asiwaju Oladimeji, has achieved a remarkable academic milestone after graduating from Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) with a perfect 5.00 Cumulative Grade Point Average(CGPA).
Asiwaju obtained his master’s degree in Peace, Conflict, and Strategic Studies, earning straight As in all 14 courses he took during the graduate program.
Asiwaju's Story and How He Did It
Asiwaju’s higher academic journey began at Ekiti State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 2009.
Over the next 14 years, he built a robust professional career spanning project management, government administration, GIS analysis, and non-profit leadership.
Driven by a relentless passion for knowledge and impact, he returned to the classroom to pursue his master’s degree at ABUAD, and this decision led him to one of the most exceptional academic performances in the university’s history.
Asiwaju not only emerged as one of the best students of his cohort but also received the Founder’s Award for Deserving Students, a prestigious honor recognizing his academic excellence, leadership, and service to humanity.
Taking to social media to celebrate his success, he wrote: “M.Sc. Conflict, Peace, and Strategic Studies. 14 Courses! 14 As! 5.0 Final CGPA! Founder’s Award for Deserving Students! PhD (in-view)! All thanks be to God.”
Among those who celebrated his success was Dr. Kayode Fayemi, former Governor of Ekiti State and one of Oladimeji’s mentors.
Commending him, Fayemi described Oladimeji’s academic feat as “a reflection of Ekiti’s enduring intellectual tradition and Oladimeji’s discipline, focus, and commitment to lifelong learning.”
“His success embodies the values of diligence and aspiration that define Ekiti’s finest minds. I have encouraged him to take the next step towards a doctorate, where his intellect will no doubt continue to shine,” Fayemi said.
Beyond academics, Oladimeji is widely known as a geospatial technology expert and sickle cell awareness advocate, using his platform to drive conversations on health and social empowerment.
He has led several advocacy initiatives and community projects, raising awareness about vulnerable populations and pushing for inclusive reforms in both public and private sectors.
