AFRICA | A brilliant Nigerian man named Samuel Ayomide Ibrahim, has emerged as the Best Pharmacy Brain in Nigeria, beating over 3,000 final-year students from 24 pharmacy schools across the country.
Samuel, a 500-level student at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lagos (UNILAG), earned the prestigious title at the Grand Finale of the Shalina Young Talent Award (SYTA) Season 6 competition, a highly competitive platform that celebrates academic excellence and innovation in pharmacy.
The President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Pharm. Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, FPSN, presented him with the award in recognition of his outstanding performance. In addition to the honor, he received a 1 million naira cash prize.
Reflecting on his journey, Samuel described the competition as transformative, pushing him beyond his limits.

He stepped out of his comfort zone, dedicating himself to intense preparation for multiple rounds of the competition, including quiz challenges, debate presentations, rapid-fire rounds, and viva voce (oral defense),
Earning the victory was not easy for Samuel as he competed against some of the brightest pharmacy students in Nigeria, and he found inspiration in their passion and dedication.
”What made this experience truly unforgettable was meeting my fellow competitors – talented, passionate, and dedicated pharmacy students from across Nigeria. I was inspired by their stories, their knowledge, and their commitment to shaping the future of pharmacy practice in our country,” he said.
Samuel expressed his gratitude to Shalina Healthcare for creating a platform that recognizes and rewards young talents in pharmacy.
“This award is not just a recognition of my own efforts, but also a reminder that I’m part of a larger community that’s working together to make a difference,” he said.
He also extended his appreciation to his family, friends, mentors, and everyone who supported him throughout the journey, acknowledging that success is never a solo achievement.
Samuel said the victory marks the beginning of an even greater journey, looking forward to seeing what the future holds and continuing to learn, grow, and make a positive impact.
