A young and brilliant African Economist named Justina Onumah has earned her PhD degree outstandingly from the University of Bonn in Germany and the University of Ghana with 6 honours to her name.
Justina Onumah celebrated her achievement on LinkedIn. “I am happy to announce that I have finally been conferred with a #PhD in #DevelopmentStudies with a research focus on the economics of innovation and development from the University of Ghana on Friday, July 29, 2022,” she wrote.
Justina Onumah holds a Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics which she earned from the University of Ghana. During her Master’s degree studies she went to the University of Guelph in Canada as an exchange student for her MSc in Agricultural Economics program.
After her Master’s degree, Justina Onumah proceeded to the University of Ghana to earn her PhD degree in Development studies.

She noted that her academic journey has not been at all rosy but she likes to focus on the victories. “We’ve been broken at some point but we picked the pieces back together and moved on because we had a crown to chase,” she said.

Justina Onumah proceeded to list her achievements during her academic journey. “Selected as the Next Einstein Forum (NEF) Ambassador for Ghana, Earned a 6-month PhD Visiting Scholar Fellowship at the Aalborg University, Received the Best PhD Student paper prize at the Globelics Conference in Costa Rica,” she said.
She added that she was also awarded the United States Mandela Washington Fellowship during her academic program. “Became a Fellow of the Mandela Washington Fellowship,” she added.

“Became a proud mother of 3 (Had 2 before beginning the program)-my greatest achievement, mentored 100s of young girls in #STEM and non-STEM- great joy and fulfilment this has been,” she also added.
Dr Justina Onumah thanked God for seeing her through and also gave credit to her husband who has been very supportive of her. “God has been faithful and my husband Dr Edward E. Onumah has been EXTREMELY SUPPORTIVE,” she said.
