A young African lady named Paulina Mefia Denteh has made history as the first African to graduate with a degree in General Medicine at Yaroslav-the-Wise Novgorod State University, in Russia.
Paulina, a Ghanaian earned her degree in General Medicine and was honored with a RED diploma/ certificate for her exceptional academic performance. She also made history as the first Ghanaian, African, black, and female foreigner to ever receive the RED certificate.
Celebrating her achievement, Paulina shared pictures and videos from her graduation thanking God and expressing her pride in herself. She was also awarded a certificate for being a teaching assistant in the medical school.
”It’s a great privilege to receive my certificate from the rector of all the University in Novgorod state and being the first black student and female to receive the RED CERTIFICATE… THANK YOU LORD,” she said.

Paulina’s academic journey began at Methodist Senior High School in Ghana, where she demonstrated exceptional academic excellence despite the school’s limited science facilities according to Ghana Web.
At her high school, she played a pivotal role in pioneering the school’s first robotics team and was an integral member of the school’s inaugural National Science and Maths Quiz team.
She proceeded to Russia’s Yaroslav-the-Wise Novgorod State University after she graduated from high school. Throughout her medical studies, not only excelled academically but also served as a teaching assistant from her fourth year until graduation.
Paulina’s contributions to the university community earned her numerous recognitions and citations. She achieved success with determination, hard work, and resilience.
In addition to her academic accomplishments, Paulina is also spearheading an innovative project aimed at addressing the issue of long queues and limited access to doctors in Ghana.
Her project involves the development of an AI-backed platform that enables patients to communicate with doctors anytime and without geographical boundaries.
Paulina stated that she is dedicated to improving healthcare and is also committed to making a meaningful impact in the world.
