Young boy earns scholarships and admission to 10 US universities, here is how he did it

An exceptional young boy named Dominic Mimbang, has achieved remarkable success after securing multiple scholarships and admission offers from 10 top universities in the United States.

Dominic earned admission into some of the most prestigious institutions in the US, including Harvard University, Yale University, University of California Berkeley, and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he also earned Morehead-Cain Scholarship.

Alongside these, he received offers from University of Virginia (as an Echols Scholar), University of Washington, Georgia Institute of Technology (as a Stamps Finalist), University of Georgia, University of Texas at Austin, and Georgia State University.

In total, Dominic closed his application season with 10 acceptances, 3 waitlists, and no rejections, a rare and outstanding achievement.

Dominic's Story and How He Did It

A Grade 12 senior at Coffee County High School in Georgia, Dominic built a a well-rounded profile beyond academics defined by leadership, service, and impact.

He is a 2026 Coca-Cola Scholar, selected from over 107,000 applicants for his contributions to social policy, mental health advocacy, and education equity. He is also the founder of Knowledge Empowers, a youth-led initiative that provides academic and civic resources to underserved students.

Through his involvement with organizations like Work2BeWell and Active Minds, he has helped lead mental health initiatives impacting over 100,000 students.

Reflecting on his journey, Dominic shared that moving to the United States as an immigrant with little or no English was one of his biggest challenges.

However, he refused to see his background as a limitation, instead turning it into his greatest strength.

According to him, the college application process tested his patience, resilience, and self-belief—but ultimately reminded him of the power of his voice and story.

Now faced with the difficult decision of choosing between top universities, many offering him the chance to graduate debt-free, Dominic remains deeply grateful for the journey and the people who supported him along the way.

Looking ahead, Dominic plans to pursue a double major in Public Policy and Linguistics, with a vision to create meaningful impact through leadership and advocacy.
