Young man wins Erasmus Scholarship to study masters in three Europe universities, here is how he did it

A brilliant young man named Moshood Opabode has achieved exceptional success, winning the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Scholarship to study across three European universities.

The Erasmus Mundus Scholarship is one of the most competitive global awards, offering full funding for tuition, travel, insurance, and monthly stipends to outstanding students worldwide.

Through this opportunity, Moshood pursued a master’s degree in Environmental Technology and Engineering across three top institutions.

He studied at University of Chemistry and Technology Prague, IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, and Ghent University, gaining international exposure and multidisciplinary expertise over two years.

Moshood's Story and How He Did It

His journey of excellence began in Nigeria. Moshood graduated with a first-class degree in Civil Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University in 2021.

His undergraduate years were marked by outstanding academic performance, earning him multiple awards, including several prizes for best performance in environmental engineering, transportation engineering, geotechnical engineering, and technical report writing.

However, his path was not without challenges. Moshood’s university journey spanned seven years due to academic strikes and the global pandemic. Despite these setbacks, he remained focused, driven by discipline, and a strong commitment to excellence.

After graduation, a new phase began. Moshood set his sights on studying abroad, but the journey required patience.

For three years, he applied consistently, facing rejections along the way. Instead of giving up, he refined his applications, improved his profile, and stayed committed to his goal. His persistence eventually paid off.

In 2023, he was awarded the Erasmus Mundus IMETE-C Scholarship, opportunity that placed him among a select group of top students globally, representing Nigeria in a highly competitive international program.

Over the next two years, he underwent rigorous academic and research training across Europe.

He built strong expertise in water and wastewater management, waste management, resource recovery, circular economy, and sustainability assessment—key areas critical to solving global environmental challenges.

His master’s thesis further demonstrated his academic depth.

Titled “Chemical Valorisation of Waste Fat from Wastewater Treatment Plants,” his research focused on converting waste into valuable resources such as sustainable fuels and chemicals, contributing to the advancement of circular economy principles.

By 2025, he successfully completed his master’s degree, marking the culmination of years of hard work and persistence.
