A brilliant young man, Olajide Ayeola, has achieved a remarkable academic milestone after graduating with a Master’s degree in Sustainable Engineering with distinction from the University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom.
His achievement was made possible through the prestigious Commonwealth Shared Scholarship. Olajide’s success is a clear reflection of academic excellence, resilience, and a consistent pursuit of global-standard engineering knowledge.
Olajide's Story and How She Did It
Olajide’s academic path began in 2015 at Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, where he enrolled for a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
his undergraduate studies, he maintained strong academic performance and demonstrated a deep commitment to engineering problem-solving.
In 2020, he graduated with a first class honors and was inducted as a graduate member of the national society of engineers, positioning him for advanced global opportunities.
After graduation, he spent time building his professional and academic portfolio while applying for postgraduate studies abroad. His consistency eventually paid off in 2024 when he was awarded the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship, one of the UK’s most prestigious fully funded awards for international students.

The scholarship covered full tuition, airfare, and provided a monthly stipend, enabling him to pursue his studies at the University of Strathclyde.
With this opportunity, Olajide enrolled for a Master’s degree in Sustainable Engineering, focusing on chemical processing and energy systems.
During his programme, he worked on advanced research projects including hydrogen adoption strategies across different countries, techno-economic modelling of district heating systems, and studies on Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) for CO₂–CH₄ separation.
These projects strengthened his expertise in sustainability, energy transition, and industrial process optimization. After a rigorous academic year, he graduated in 2026 with Distinction, marking one of the highest levels of achievement in his programme.
Reflecting on his journey, Olajide shared on LinkedIn a deeply personal account of growth, sacrifice, and gratitude.
He noted that he had once hoped to recreate his graduation moment with both parents present, but life circumstances made that impossible. His father had passed away, while his mother was unable to attend physically due to distance.
Despite this, he emphasized that his journey was not walked alone. He expressed gratitude to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission and the University of Strathclyde for funding his education, describing the scholarship as the foundation that made his studies possible.
He also appreciated his supervisors, mentors, friends, and family who supported him through the demanding academic year. Olajide stated that the programme was not only academically intense but also transformative.
It shaped how he approaches problem-solving, research, and global engineering challenges.
Drawing inspiration from the famous Strathclyde motto, he reflected that “if I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants,” acknowledging the collective support that contributed to his success.
In his closing reflections, Olajide expressed pride in his journey from Nigeria to the United Kingdom and gratitude for the people who stood by him through challenges and achievements alike.
