A brilliant mathematician named Joshua Owolabi Adeleke has achieved remarkable success after receiving a prestigious fellowship granted to fewer than 10% of candidates annually.
Joshua was named a Fellow of the National Institute of Professional Engineers and Scientists (FNIPES), a distinguished recognition given to professionals who demonstrate excellence, innovation, and impact in their fields.
The fellowship recognised Joshua’s outstanding contributions to nuclear energy studies, advanced mathematical modelling, and scientific computing. The award places him among a select group of top-performing researchers and professionals globally.
Joshua's Story and How He Did It
Born in Nigeria, Joshua began his academic journey at University of Nigeria, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Physics education with honors.
He went on to further his studies abroad, completing two Master’s degrees in Mathematical Engineering through the EU-funded InterMaths Consortium. Joshua studied at University of L’Aquila, Italy and
Brno University of Technology in Czech republic.
The InterMaths Consortium is designed to train specialists working at the intersection of mathematics, engineering, and scientific computing.
However, as a student, Joshua journey was not just about earning the degrees. He gained international recognition for his work in advanced mathematical modelling across Nuclear physics, Materials science, Energy systems, Scientific computing and Quantum interaction simulations.

His expertise has helped solve complex real-world scientific challenges. Joshua has also worked with some of the top research institutions in the United States, including Los Alamos National Laboratory and Argonne National Laboratory
At these institutions, he contributed to Nuclear scattering studies, Atomic-scale modelling andn Large-scale quantum material simulations.
Speaking on the recognition, Joshua said he is humbled. “Being recognised as a Fellow of the National Institute of Professional Engineers and Scientists is a deeply humbling honour,” he said.
He added that the award reflects not only his academic journey, but also the support of mentors, institutions, and collaborators who shaped his path.“This recognition affirms the value of bridging theoretical mathematics with real-world problems,” he added.
Joshua also noted that the fellowship reminds him of the responsibility to mentor others, uphold excellence, and continue contributing to science in ways that support both national and global development.
